12/28/12 - Recent Highlights of the Press Pieces on Richard Adams (RIP)

Hello everyone –

We wanted to take a moment to share some of the news pieces that have been published in recognition of Richard’s passing.  The one bright spot in this sad event is that his life and the issues he fought for are now being featured in the media spotlight in a broad spectrum of publications from The LA Times and Boston Examiner to The Advocate magazine and gay blogsite Towelroad.  Two very high profile pieces were aired, yesterday Richard’s obituary was one of those featured in The New York Times at http://nyti.ms/WFIQog and the day before, Tom gave an interview on Public Radio International’s “The World” show on Richard’s life and the film (listen here at http://bit.ly/V7eM3S).

Below, please find a summary of links to some highlight pieces.  Please take a moment to read, listen and share with your communities to help commemorate Richard’s life.

Thank you, and wishing you the best this holiday season.

Yours truly,

The Limited Partnership Movie Team

Tom, Kirk, Karen, Amy A., Carl, Lisa, Amy H., Becca, Xander

Richard Adams, same-sex marriage and immigration equality pioneer, dies at 65

We feel so blessed to have met Richard and Tony. For 43 years they fought the U.S. government that tried to force them apart. Even though they lost all their court battles, were deported, had to slip back into the country, and then went underground for almost 30 years; their love won out. They were together until the moment Richard died. Thank you Richard and Tony for trusting us with your inspirational story over the past twelve years.

In honor of Richard’s commitment to same-sex marriage and immigration equality, the family requests that donations be made to our film “Limited Partnership”.  Our film will insure that Richard and Tony’s legacy and life work will never be forgotten.  With your help we will raise the final funds to get the film completed this year so it will be part of the final debate that will ultimately grant marriage and immigration rights to all Americans!

12/10/12 15 hours to go!

Thanks so much to our Supporters - we’ve come such a long way!  Just 15 hours left and we are still trying to raise $14,925 to reach our new goal of $50,000.  Do you know anyone who can afford to donate $25?  The perk at this level is a digital download copy of the finished film.  If we can get 600 people to sign on at this level by 11:59 PM PST, we will surpass our second goal!

Richard and Tony’s story is powerful and will continue to inspire others in the years to come. First, it will bring closure to Richard and Tony and help them leave a legacy of their 43-year struggle for marriage equality. Second, it will enlighten a new generation of LGBT and ally activists on the fight for LGBT marriage and immigration rights. Lastly, this film will help educate a broader community of citizens on the need for LGBT marriage and immigration reform. In this spirit, we wanted to share with you some of the comments we’ve been getting over the last several weeks of our campaign.

I am an American Gay man who had to move to London to be with my husband. We have 3 children in the USA that we have not seen in 7 years as we cannot afford to go home. We were tore away from our family in the USA by this sick law. We are hoping to go home one day where we can be together with our children again. The heartache is just like dying. Please help this film get made, it can help us all! Thank you for making this film!

I’ve known Tony and Richard since the 80’s and also when Tony was deported. They have suffered so much for their beliefs. I hope this film changes the publics feelings towards dedicated same sex marriages.

@LPTheMovie Thank you for telling Richard & Tony's story! Reading about them, about 2 years ago, made a huge difference in my life.

Wonderful Supporters - today’s the last chance!  Please take five minutes share our campaign at http://bit.ly/TaPq67 with your colleagues, family, friends - anyone with a stake in the issue who wants to be a part of telling Richard and Tony’s amazing 43-year journey.  We can’t do this without you.  Thank you so much, again!

12/09/12 We are so close to meeting our new goal!

The past almost month has flown by!  Somehow or other, blogging duties have been eclipsed by other pressing concerns. That said, it's been an amazing several days!  Last Monday, we were blessed to meet our initial target fundraising goal of $30,000 a week early!  Unfortunately, this was also around the time when we learned we would need to re-enter production and beging filming the final leg of Richard and Tony's 43-year journey towards marriage equality as Richard has developed serious health issues.  This combined with the knowledge as of Friday that the Supreme Court does intend to take up the #DOMA and #Prop 8 cases let us know that Richard and Tony's future is quite uncertain.  Because of this, we set a secondary funding target of $50,000 in total that we are still trying to reach to fund the additional unexpected filming and post production costs such as sound editing and mixing, color correction, titles and music.  At this moment, we are working to raise $15,275 in the next 26 hours.  We are so grateful to all of our supporters, friends and families for all they have contributed.  If you happen to come across this post and can sign on to our campaign at  , please do so!  And spread the word!  We can also be found online at the links below.  Thank you in advance for your support.

Love and care,

The LP Movie Team
